Applications
Trans-oxide pigments are mostly used in automotive paints and wood finishes. Meanwhile they are also widely used in the areas of construction paints, industrial coatings, plastics, nylon, rubber, printing inks, art coatings, cosmetics and powder coatings.
The excellent weather fastness, UV absorption properties, high transparency and color strength make Trans-oxides to enrich the colors, increase chroma when combined with organic pigments and improve the condition of poor weather fastness when organic pigments are used alone without Trans-oxide pigments.
The odorless series umber pigments are mainly used for wood wiping stains as well as industrial coatings.
Wood Finishes
The ultraviolet component of sunlight is principally responsible for the degradation of wood. Trans-oxide pigments are strong absorbers of UV radiation providing protection for the wood and extending the service life of the wood, while their color and transparency enhance the appearance of the natural wood grain with a soft color. The high durability and weather fastness of Trans-oxide pigments make them the natural choice for outdoor wood coatings and furniture finishes.
Automotive Paints
The most typical features of Trans-oxide pigments are to improve weather fastness, transparency and UV absorption of the paint. So they are widely used in automotive paints and in combination with aluminum and pearlescence pigments to produce metallic and golden yellow finishes. At the same time, cost benefits and excellent weather fastness by allowing cost effective color stylings in combination with more expensive organic pigments can be achieved.
Transparent yellow iron oxide is used in combination with phthalocyanine pigments to achieve gold to green shades, while transparent red and brown iron oxides can be combined to blue shade reds and maroons.
Plastic Application
Owing to its properties of transparency and strong absorption of UV radiation, Easy-to-disperse Trans-oxide pigments are applied to a variety of plastic products, which not only provide good transparent coloring, but also improve the ageing resistance of the plastic products and protect the UV sensitive items in the plastic containers.
Industrial Coatings
Coatings containing Trans-oxide pigments can produce attractive gold and copper effects when applied to metal. Trans-oxide pigments are suitable for both exterior and interior coating systems. They also have good potential application areas in air-dried coatings and baking finishes because of good color and thermal stability.
Art Coatings
Art coatings using Trans-oxide pigments may keep the art colors for long period due to the high durability and weather fastness property of Trans-oxide pigments. So Trans-oxide pigments are also widely used in outdoor billboards and art decorations.
Powder Coating
Trans-oxide pigment yellow, black and brown are able to keep colors unchanged in 5-20 minutes under 160℃, and the temperature for red is under 500℃,so they may be used in powder coatings.
Printing Ink
Water-based or solvent-based Trans-oxide dispersions have similar bright colors to organic pigments and transparent dyestuffs, which are suitable for printing of aluminum tube. They may also be used in preparation of metallic printing inks.
Cosmetics
Because Trans-oxide pigments are non-toxic with low heavy metal contents and have a high UV ray absorption property, they are applicable in cosmetic industry.
